The robust LIFEPAK 1000 is an easy-to-use automated external defibrillator (AED) that is suitable for all types of users; from untrained to healthcare professional. It is easy to use under all circumstances and understandable for everyone. The LIFEPAK 1000 AED is the cream of the crop from Physio Control: It is made out of good quality material and is robust enough to withstand a beating and resist dust and water. Jets of water, falling from a great height or bouncing down the stairs; the Lifepak 1000 continues to function without problems. It will still provide a powerful shock when the victim needs it. This AED is widely used by medical personnel in many ambulances and hospitals in the Netherlands.
The LIFEPAK has a large, intuitive touch screen with clear instructions that displays clear images and ECG records that are easy to read. These images are reinforced by clear spoken text that provide instructions for resuscitation and the application of the patches. This ensures that the care provider receives the right support and can get started with peace of mind.
There’s also plenty of options to be found, but it’s still easy to use. It makes use of the cprMAX™ technology, which allows compressions to continue while the AED is charging, with minimal interruption to CPR. Pediatric CPR is possible with the optional pediatric electrodes.
This Lifepak 1000 contains the 3-LEAD ECG cable.

When someone suddenly gets a cardiac arrest, the heart stops beating. It’s what happens when the hearts electrical activity becomes chaotic. The brain will also no longer receive oxygen. The longer this oxygen deficiency lasts, the more mental and physical damage it causes for the victim, if he or she survives. That is why time is an important factor.
Worldwide, sudden and unexpected cardiac death is the most common cause of death, accounting for 17 million deaths every year with sudden cardiac death accounting for 25 % of these. It can happen to anyone, anywhere. But early resuscitation and defibrillation remains the key to survival.
A defibrillator applies a brief pulse of electrical current to a heart, allowing its normal electrical system to gain control. Defibrillation is the only effective treatment for ventricular fibrillation, a fatal heart rhythm associated with sudden cardiac arrest. Although not everyone can be saved, studies show early defibrillation can dramatically improve survival rates.
An AED is a life-saving emergency aid that anyone can use to restart the heart when it is struck by a cardiac arrest. The device is fully portable and gives the heart an electric shock to bring the heartbeat back to normal.
In this video series AED Professionals give you basic training on how to use the LIFEPAK 1000 Defibrillator.
